The Story Behind The Shot
Face of Europe is my biggest personal photo project so far and has led me between 2012 and 2018 to all 49 countries of Europe. It was my goal to give Europe a face. The pictures show ordinary people that we encountered in different situations. The two men on the left are Vladimir, a car mechanic, and Lev, a builder, both from Medveko, Russia, the two teenagers on the right Andreas and Tobias from Copenhagen, Denmark. We put them together to form one picture to show how wide the spectrum of our differences is, yet how similar we still are.
