The Story Behind The Shot
In 2006 I got an invitation to visit the indigenous tribe of the Kalapalos on the upper Xingu River in Brazil. I was there a second time for their most important celebration of life, death and rebirth called Kuarup. For this occasion, all the neighbouring tribes come together. Normally, the Kalapalos live isolated and protected from the rest of the world so you can’t visit them as they still live the indigenous way. I took this picture one early morning when I was playing with the kids in the river with the morning mist.
