Artwork - Royal Ascot, Face of Europe
The Story Behind The Shot
When I saw this amazing couple, Gerald and Louise, at the Royal Enclosure of the Royal Ascot, the fanciest and hardest section to get into at the famous horse race, I immediately knew that I wanted their picture. Since 1768, the races take place under the patronage of the Crown at the Royal racecourse in Ascot. I felt extremely honoured that Gerald and Louise took their time for my picture. I was even more surprised when three years ago, I was invited to a friend’s party here in Switzerland and the very same couple showed up. Now, they live in Switzerland just on the other side of the lake and we have regular gin tonics. What a small world.
